The Woz Challenge Cup is like the Superbowl, or the World Series, but for segway polo. It started in 2005 after an American living in New Zealand met a Bay Area SEG member, Steve Wozniak. They started to talk about polo and ended with the American challenging Steve to a match in which we like to call, segway polo. Teams and names were then put together. The Silicon Valley Aftershocks and The New Zealand Pole Blacks. They named this challenge, the Woz Challenge Cup, and it was decided it would be the international segway polo championship game, which would soon become a yearly event. And for all you people wondering who won the very first championship, well, nobody won. They tied 2-2.
2011's challenge cup took place in Folsom, California on June 16-19. 12 teams competed, and out of the 12, 2 teams played head to head in the championship game. Germany's Blade Pirates against Barbados's Flyin' Fish. The previous year, they had also played each other in the championship game, and the Flyin' Fish had beaten the Blade Pirates 3-1. But this year, the Blade Pirates took the trophy and beat the Flyin' Fish 1-0.
